Proof Tab

When you have created the audience export file, you go to the Proof Tab to:

  • Preview an e-mail before viewing or sending proofs
  • View and send "one-up" proofs of an e-mail before sending the live proofs
  • View and send live proofs (L Proofs) of an e-mail before sending the final version

Note: Proof mailings are for testing and proofreading purposes only. They are not reflected in the data used by eReports and Insight Builder for the mailing. Actions taken by recipients of proof mailings, such as unsubscribing, do not affect the database.

One-up proofs and live proofs present content precisely as it will appear in the final e-mail. You can see how symbols resolve, which allows you to verify that the logic involved in dynamic content is working correctly. This helps to ensure that the content appears exactly as expected for each target audience.

One advantage of proof mailings is the ability to test various message formats. For example, you can force a MIME type by selecting a row of data that is set to receive HTML format and sending that row a live proof Text format instead.

One-up and live proofs use a sample file consisting of a subset of the rows in the data file. These sample rows are used to construct proof mailings, which are sent (along with other data) to a particular group of users.

In a standard cell, the data file used to build the sample file consists of the audience lists specified in the Audience Tab of the cell. In an Insight Trigger cell, the data used to build the sample file comes from your selections in the Lproof Audience pane of the the Insight Audience tab. This is because the actual audience data does not exist until the Insight Builder query executes for the first time.
