» Generating One or Separate Reports on Target Links
Generating One or Separate Reports on Target LinksIt is common for mailings to have the same link in multiple formats. For example, www.sample.com might appear twice in the HTML version and once in the Text version. For reporting flexibility, eReports offers two options for reporting these links, depending on your goals. Until you become more familiar with eReports, use the default or slight variations of the default. Option 1: Generating separate reports for target links This option is the default. It works best if the location of a target link within the e-mail is important. Using this option lets you include the exact context of the link's appearance in eReports. For example, you might want to measure whether the www.sample.com link at the top of the page performed better than the same link at the bottom of the page. You might also want to track the link separately in the HTML and Text formats. To accomplish this, make the report names different for each occurrence of a link in different locations or types of e-mail. Campaign Builder does this by default. When you send the mailing, Campaign Builder automatically marks these links as separate for reporting purposes. Option 2: Generating one report for target links This option works well if there are numerous identical uses of the same link within the content and you do not need to track which placement or wording drove the click-through. For example, you might want to know what percentage of recipients clicked through to your Web page when there are five home page URLs in HTML and Text formats. You are not concerned whether "click below for further details" or "find out more by clicking here" received more clicks. You are primarily interested in how many recipients clicked through to your home page. To accomplish this, make all report names for the same target link the same. By default, the report names for the target links are different. When you send the mailing, Campaign Builder automatically groups all links with the same report name into one report. You can also combine Option 1 and Option 2 elements, based on your marketing needs. |
