Setting Up Reporting

The Links Tab groups URLs by category, which allows you to run reports based on URL categories that you define. URLs are rolled up under the same target and report name.

  1. Determine in which report the activity for each link is to be included.

You can include all links with the same URL in one report. However, you may find it more useful to generate separate reports for links depending on where they appear in the e-mail. For more information, see Generating One or Separate Reports on Target Links.

  2. Enter the name for the report for each link in the Report Name column.

The report name identifies a link in eReports. Generally, you want to use names that easily identify a link. For example, instead of http://sample.com/20081225/abcdef, you might name the report BODY - Sample Holiday Offer.

  3. To exclude a link from reports, check the DNR checkbox for that link.

DNR stands for "do not report."

  4. Click Save.

Working with image maps

An image map is an image that can contain one or more clickable links: for example, an image of a golfer's body where the torso links to information on shirts and the feet link to information on shoes. If your HTML code or template contains an image map, you can add the report names on the Links Tab. However, you may not be able to easily distinguish one link in an image map from another. For this reason, e-Dialog recommends that you minimize the number of image maps in your mailings.

If you need to use image maps with reporting, you can use the Report Name attribute to add name and report URLs in the image map.
