Operating Systems for Vertica Database Servers

Supported for all purposes including production:

• Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, 64 bit
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 64 bit
• SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10, 64 bit

Supported for non-production (testing and evaluation) purposes only:

• Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, 32 bit
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 32 bit
• SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10, 32 bit
• Fedora Core 6, 32 bit
• Fedora Core 6, 64 bit

Not Supported

• VMware

You can install Vertica on VMware virtual machines running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, 32 bit or 64 bit. However, Vertica Systems, Inc. strongly suggests that you do not use this platform for any sort of storage capacity or performance testing.

Operating Systems for Vertica Client Applications

Any operating system that has the following items installed:

• Java Virtual Machine (JVM)
• Vertica JDBC jar file included in the application's CLASSPATH environment variable
