Startup Problems

This section describes some of the known problems that can occur when starting a database. Startup fails on:

A database cannot start up cleanly unless it was shut down safely. A safe database shutdown requires that N-K nodes shut down safely, where N is the number of nodes in the cluster. When you start a database and Vertica detects that it was not shut down safely, it cancels the startup and automatically shuts down again.
