This section describes some of the known problems that can occur when starting a database. Startup fails on:
A database cannot start up cleanly unless it was shut down safely. A safe database shutdown requires that N-K nodes shut down safely, where N is the number of nodes in the cluster. When you start a database and Vertica detects that it was not shut down safely, it cancels the startup and automatically shuts down again.
If a database fails to start before it can write messages into vertica.log, check the file catalog-path/
database-name/dbLog
.
