Installing the ODBC Driver (Optional)

This section describes how to install the Vertica ODBC driver. For more information about the ODBC driver, see Setting Up a Data Source Name in the SQL Programmer's Guide.

1. Log into a Windows account with Administrator privileges.
2. Download the Vertica ODBC Driver from http://www.vertica.com/v-zone/download_vertica to a temporary folder on your Windows system.
3. Unzip the file.
4. Using Windows Explorer, right-click the file vertica.msi and select Install from the pop-up menu.

   

5. Click Next>. The ODBC driver documentation is part of the Vertica documentation set and is not packaged with the driver.

   

6. If you see the following error:

   There is a problem with this Windows installed package.

   A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run.

   Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

   Upgrade the Windows Installer.

7. In the installation complete dialog, click Finish.
