Carefully follow the instructions in the following sections:
This section describes how to construct a hardware platform and how to prepare Linux for Vertica installation.
This section describes how to:
install_vertica
, a powerful shell script provided by Verticathat configures a cluster of hosts that can be used to create a database. The script does a number of checks to catch common Linux misconfigurations. It checks the connectivity and bandwidth characteristics of the communication links among the cluster machines and verifies other pre-requisites.You must be logged in as root to use install_vertica
and you must run install_vertica
for all installations, including upgrades and single-node installations.
This section describes how to install your license key. The other procedures do not apply to all applications of Vertica and are optional.
Manual procedures are still provided in this document in case of installation problems. Use them only when you are instructed to do so by Technical Support.
When you have completed these procedures, log into the Database Administrator Linux account and proceed to Configuring the Database in the Database Administrator's Guide.
