This document presents a high-level overview of the Vertica® Analytic Database, an innovative system that represents a major improvement in performance over products currently available from major DBMS software and appliance vendors. It introduces the basic concepts that you need to be familiar with in order to effectively design, build, operate, and maintain a Vertica database.
Prerequisites
This document assumes that you are familiar with the basic concepts and terminology of relational database management systems and SQL.
